Description
Constantine è un film del 2005 diretto da Francis Lawrence, basato sulla serie di fumetti Hellblazer edita da Vertigo, etichetta della DC Comics.
Un esorcista a cui viene diagnosticato un tumore maligno ai polmoni, John Constantine, si affianca al detective Angela Dodson per indagare sul suicidio della sorella gemella di quest'ultima, Isabel. In realtà il suicidio di Isabel era stato causato dai suoi poteri medianici: la giovane sapeva che Mammon, figlio di Satana, intendeva instaurare il suo regno sulla terra, adempiendo ad una profezia della Bibbia Infera. Per riuscire a scoprire cosa ha spinto Isabel alla morte, Angela cerca di recuperare le proprie abilità di medium, in modo da poter visitare l'Inferno, ma diventa così il tramite ideale per la venuta di Mammon. L'Arcangelo Gabriele, che in un primo momento sembrava dalla parte dell'umanità , tenta di portare sulla terra Mammon usando la lancia del destino: ritenendo gli uomini indegni del dono della vita e del libero arbitrio, imponendo che solo coloro che sopravviveranno all'inferno che Mammon porterà in terra possano accedere al Paradiso...
